Introduction
​The following pages list data for all known family members as of August 13, 2017.

Each immediate family is presented in their own section that contains a description with information about each referenced person and their children. The child section provides information about the children of the preceding couple. When a child has offspring of their own this is presented in a separate family section for that child. In this case a '+' is used to denote that an individual will appear later in the book as a parent with his/her own children and there is a link to the appropriate family reference number. For children with partners but no offspring the partner data is given with the reference family. Roman numerals, followed by a period, are used to indicate the birth order.

This document reports the details of 532 individuals, of whom 254 are male and 277 are female. The sex of one individual is unknown. Of the 348 individuals with recorded birth and death dates, the average lifespan was 59.57 years. Of these, 174 males averaged 60.34 years, and 173 females averaged 59.09 years. The longest living male was Willard Edgar Thomen (1909–2006), who died aged 97. The longest living female was Glenna R. Curtis (1899–1999), who died aged 100.

Most of the earlier generations are taken from "The Fobes Family in America: The Descendants of John Fobes, Immigrant in 1636 to Duxbury, Massachusetts, Vol. 2" by Lawrence George Fobes, 1918.  You will notice the surname changes from Fobes to Forbes and back. This seems to be common for this family. Lastly, I've listed all the children that I have come across and found sources for a lot of them. Family of John Fobes and Constant Mitchell
1.          John Fobes was born in 1608 in Leiden Municipality, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. He was the son of John Forbes and Christian Barkley. John died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, before June 13, 1660.[1] He was buried in Old Town Cemetery, Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, USA.  John married Constant Mitchell in 1636 in Massachusetts, USA.[2] They had seven children. Constant Mitchell was born in Leiden Municipality, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, about 1614. Constant reached 47 years of age and died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, about 1661. She was the daughter of Thomas Mitchell and Margaret Vochin.

JOHN FOBES, son of John Fobes and Constant Mitchell; born probably Bridgewater, Mass., 1647-48; died at Sandwich, Mass., 10 July 1661, "the same year as his father, when 12 to 15 years of age, at George Allen's"; (Allen a Deputy from sandwich to Plymouth General Court, 1640-44).   Died at George Allen's House. .General Register of the Society of Colonial Wars G-190 . 2.          Edward Fobes was born in 1651 in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[4] He was the son of John Fobes (1) and Constant Mitchell. Edward died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, in 1732 at the age of 81.  Edward married Elizabeth Howard in 1677.[5] They had nine children. Elizabeth Howard was born about 1651. Elizabeth reached 96 years of age and died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, in 1747. She was the daughter of John Howard and Martha Hayward.

5.          Bethia Fobes was born on October 11, 1683, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[17] She was the daughter of Edward Fobes (2) and Elizabeth Howard.  Bethia married Samuel Keith on January 20, 1703, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[18]

6.          Hannah Fobes was born on March 31, 1686, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[19] She was the daughter of Edward Fobes (2) and Elizabeth Howard.  Hannah married Timothy Keith in 1710.

7.          Ephraim Fobes was born on February 9, 1688, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[20] He was the son of Edward Fobes (2) and Elizabeth Howard. Ephraim died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on December 11, 1756, at the age of 68.[21]  At the age of 26, Ephraim married Martha Snell on April 22, 1714, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, when she was 21 years old.[22] They had seven children. Martha Snell was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on October 8, 1692.[23] Martha reached 57 years of age and died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on March 19, 1750.[24]

Joshua died in 1762 at the age of 72.  Joshua married Abigail Dunbar on December 4, 1711, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[30] They had eight children. Abigail Dunbar was born about 1691. Abigail reached 59 years of age and died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on April 11, 1750.

Benjamin died in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA, on April 10, 1770, at the age of 77.  Benjamin married Martha Hunt on May 3, 1721, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[34]

10.        William Fobes was born on July 24, 1698, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[35] He was the son of Edward Fobes (2) and Elizabeth Howard. William died in West Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on June 24, 1764, at the age of 65.[36]  At the age of 27, William married Thankful Dwelly on February 3, 1726, in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, when she was 19 years old. They had seven children. Thankful Dwelly was born in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on December 12, 1706.[37] Thankful reached 69 years of age and died in West Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on April 9, 1776.[36] She was the daughter of John Dwelly and Rachael Buck.

11.        Abner Forbes was born on November 11, 1727, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[46] He was the son of William Fobes (10) and Thankful Dwelly. Abner was baptized in First Church of West Bridgewater on May 3, 1730. He died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on January 20, 1767, at the age of 39.[47]  Abner married Phebe Leach about 1744. They had eight children. Phebe Leach was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, in 1729. Phebe reached 97 years of age and died in 1826. She was the daughter of Benjamin Leach and Hepzibah Washburn.

12.        Lucie Fobes was born on May 26, 1732, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[57] She was the daughter of William Fobes (10) and Thankful Dwelly. Lucie died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on February 15, 1775, at the age of 42.[58]  She married Seth Williams.

13.        William Fobes was born on November 9, 1735, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[59] He was the son of William Fobes (10) and Thankful Dwelly. William died on May 29, 1797, at the age of 61.  William married Hannah Willis on Tuesday, November 6, 1759, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.

Family of Timothy Fobes and Mary Dean
14.        Timothy Fobes was born on May 18, 1740, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[60] He was the son of William Fobes (10) and Thankful Dwelly. Timothy died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on October 20, 1803, at the age of 63.[61]  At the age of 26, Timothy married Mary Dean on Monday, October 20, 1766, when she was 23 years old.[62] They had four sons. Mary Dean was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on May 11, 1743.[63] Mary reached 71 years of age and died in West Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on November 14, 1814.[64]

                    I.        William Fobes was born on September 14, 1767.[60]
+    21         II.      Avery Fobes was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on January 22, 1770.[65] He died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on May 16, 1845, at the age of 75.[66]
                    III.     Dwelley Fobes was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on September 6, 1774.[67] He died in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on June 19, 1783, at the age of 8.[68] His cause of death was Head Injury. Son of Timothy and Mary, nee Dean, Fobes.  Died at the age of 8 years, 9 months and 13 days after being hit on the head by a falling timber at the raising of the Baptist meeting house.
                    IV.     Timothy Fobes was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, on February 25, 1783.[60]

4th Generation

Family of Absalom Forbes and Martha Hall
15.        Absalom Forbes was born on May 22, 1751, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[69] He was the son of Abner Forbes (11) and Phebe Leach. Absalom died in White Plains, Westchester, New York, USA, in September 1778 at the age of 27. At the age of 20, Absalom married Martha Hall on Thursday, July 25, 1771, in Sutton, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, when she was 19 years old. They had four sons. Martha Hall was born in Sutton, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, on September 12, 1751.[70] Martha reached 76 years of age and died in Northbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, on March 26, 1828.[71] She was buried in Old Cemetery, Northbridge Center. She was the daughter of Willis Hall and Martha Gibbs.
Notes for Absalom Forbes [Fobes]
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Volume 93, page 262, DAR ancestor:
Absalom Forbes (1751-78) marched on the Lexington Alarm under Capt. Robert Taft; enlisted, 1778, in Capt. Benjamin Farrar's company, Col. Ezra Wood's regiment. He was born in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MAss.; died in White Plains, N. Y.

Absalom Forbes enlisted 4-19-1775 from Uptown, Mass. Was one of "Alarm Men" in Battle of Lexington under Capt. Root and Col. Silas Wheelock's regiment. Later was in the Arm of Boston in Col. Joseph Reed's Regiment and in 178 in Col. Wood's Regiment, Capt. Darrow's Company. He died near White Plains, New York "from effects of wounds and exposure" Sept. 1778, age. 27.

After researching the whereabouts of Capt. Darrow's Company for September 1778, it seems that in early September 1778 a team of 5 men were sent to check an area outside of White Plains where the enemy might have been.  According to the one man who survived, they were ambushed. Therefore, I believe this is when/where Absalom was killed. msc

+    22         I.        Abner Forbes was born in Uxbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, on February 29, 1772.[72] He died in Montpelier, Washington, Vermont, USA, on December 28, 1828, at the age of 56.
+    23         II.      Libbeus Forbes was born in Uxbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, on January 28, 1774.[73] He was also known as Libbeus Fobes. Libbeus died in Richland, Ohio, USA, on November 14, 1844, at the age of 70.
+    24         III.     Jotham Forbes was born in Upton, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, on June 12, 1776.[74] He died in Clyde, Sandusky, Ohio, USA, on September 26, 1838, at the age of 62.
+    25         IV.     Absalom Forbes was born in Upon, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, on November 1, 1778.[75] He died in Coos, New Hampshire, USA, between 1850 and 1853.

Family of Hannah Forbes and Levi Leach
16.        Hannah Forbes was born on Friday, May 25, 1753, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[76] She was the daughter of Abner Forbes (11) and Phebe Leach. Hannah died in Amherst, Hampshire, Massachusetts, USA.  At the age of 18, Hannah married Levi Leach on Monday, November 18, 1771, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, when he was 27 years old.[77] Levi Leach was born on April 7, 1744.

17.        Edward Forbes was born on Saturday, October 25, 1755, in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.[78] He was the son of Abner Forbes (11) and Phebe Leach. Edward died in Buckland, Franklin, Massachusetts, USA, on May 22, 1835, at the age of 79.[79]  At the age of 33, Edward married Eunice Amsden on Wednesday, April 22, 1789, in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts, USA, when she was 34 years old. They had three children. Eunice Amsden was born in Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts, USA, on Tuesday, April 22, 1755. Eunice reached 87 years of age and died in Buckland, Franklin, Massachusetts, USA, on January 1, 1843.[80]
